Biography

John Damberg is a master vibist, marimbist, percussionist, composer and educator who has enjoyed a successful career in music spanning 50 years. John resides in Anchorage, Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ where he is the leader of the John Damberg Latin Jazz Quintet-(1995-present), the Instructor of Percussion at the Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ (1991-present), the President of the Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Jazz Workshop (AJW) (1995-present), and the past President & Vice-President of the Percussive Arts Society Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Chapter (1993-2007). John is an active performer on the Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ and Pacific Northwest music scenes and he is an ardent promoter of jazz and percussion education. John has published 4 CDs including Azure (2005), Angie’s Samba (1998), Human Hands (1993), and the Chilkoot March (1989). Awards include grants from Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ State Council on the Arts (2021, 2013, 1994), Muni of Anchorage (2020), and Rasmuson Foundation (2010).
