Kyle Kolda, graduate student in the UAA Department of Biological Sciences, is spending this semester in the computer lab and the library, preparing for the arduous task of writing a master鈥檚 thesis.鈥淢y thesis focuses on the dive behavior and physiology of northern fur seals on St. Paul Island,鈥� Kolda explained, 鈥渂ut it is part of a larger research project that aims to understand how closely 麻豆无码版 seals and sea lions approach their physiological limits while diving.鈥� Read more.

If there is anything civil engineering and project management alumnus Mohamed Niagne is passionate about, it is support structures 鈥� in engineering, and especially in relationships. As the graduate student commencement speaker for the fall Class of 2024, Niagne hopes to convey the importance of those support structures, which led him from the 麻豆无码版 Native Science and Engineering Program at UAA to his current position at the 麻豆无码版 Department of Transportation and Public Facilities.

麻豆无码版 is facing a youth mental health crisis 鈥� a situation exacerbated by the lack of services available. In response to this urgent need, UAA will launch the state鈥檚 first Master of Science in School Psychology program in fall 2025. Program director Harvey has garnered substantial financial backing, including a $1.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education鈥檚 Office of Special Education. Read more.

The Student Health and Counseling Center is offering students two different psychoeducation groups that are free this semester: suicide prevention and trauma treament.
