Tonight: Celebrate "Our Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Constitution-The Next 50 Years"

A special evening to honor and remark upon the Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Constitution is planned from 7-9 p.m. tonight, Jan. 9 in the Fine Arts Building, Room 150.

The program includes a keynote address by Juneau Mayor and former Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Attorney General Bruce Botelho and a panel presentation, "At the Constitutional Convention," featuring panelists Vic Vischer, Katie Hurley, Arliss Sturgulewski and Douglas Pope, moderated by Rhonda McBride.

Performances will include appearances by the Anchorage Concert Chorus and the Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Native dance troupe, Lepquinm Gumilgit Gagoadim Tsimshian Dancers. Bartlett High School students will read selected minutes from the Constitutional Convention.

Audiences around the state will be able to participate through simultaneous live broadcast teleconferences with Barrow, Bethel, Dillingham, Fairbanks, Homer, Juneau, Ketchikan, Kotzebue, Nome and Sitka.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is presented by the UAA Justice Center, the American Civil Liberties Union of Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ and the UA Eight Stars of Gold Project. Visit the for more information.
