Applications to speak at the Climate Change and Sustainability Conference due Feb. 25

The UAA Combat Climate Change Club (C4) is seeking climate change knowledge-holders to speak at the 3rd annual Climate Change and Sustainability Conference.

The conference will be held on March 20 in the UAA Student Union. C4 is working to bring together the Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ community to educate the student body and general public about climate solutions, policies, improvements, threats and research.

Presentations will be 7-8 minutes (TED Talk style) and can be from students, faculty members and the Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ public. Approved applications are required to present, but not required to enjoy the event and participate in support for a more sustainable tomorrow.

C4 welcomes speakers and art that spans climate change and action within Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ including (but not limited to):

  • Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æn careers in climate change
  • Indigenous Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æn climate knowledge
  • Climate change science and current research in Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ
  • Climate change, business, and economics in Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ
  • Climate change outreach, public relations, organization work, or other sustainability activism based in Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ
  • Solutions to climate change for individuals, organizations, and policymakers specifically in Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ
  • Societal impacts of climate change on Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æns
  • Climate change and the arts (poems, ceramics, paintings, etc.)

Companies that hire students for sustainability-related positions or require climate change knowledge should email C4 to reserve a booth at the conference and increase their applicant range.

Applications must be submitted using the Google form by Feb. 25 to be considered for presentations. Applicants may reach out to a Combat Climate Change Club representative at acjared@alaska.edu or uaa.climate.club@gmail.com.
