Hanover, New Hampshire – UAA sophomore Corbin Carpenter skied to All-American honors in the 7.5-kilometer classic race at the NCAA National Championships Thursday.

Carpenter finished 10th in 22:17.8.

“Great race for Corbin today,” said associate head coach Trond Flagstad. “He has had a strong season so far, and we have been waiting for his break through race, and we are happy that it happened today. We already looking forward to Saturday.”

Peter Hinds placed 14th (22:52.0), and Derek Deuling was 24th (23:28.1).

“Peter had a very solid race, and Derek was a little under par from what we know he can do.”

Beth Granstrom led the Seawolf women finishing 15th (25:20.4).

Marit Flora finished 32nd (26:40.6), and Marlie Molinaro was 36th (26:49.4).

“Beth had a great race only three seconds up and she would have been 12th. It was a tight race and just a few seconds can bump you up quite a bit. Marit and Marlie had good races in a tough field. I think both would have wanted more so we are focusing on Saturday now.”

The Seawolves are currently 6th of 23 teams in the team standings with 144 points.

Erica Laven of Utah won the women’s race (23:43.3), and John Steel Haggenbuch of Dartmouth won the men’s race (20:52.8).

The NCAA Skiing National Championships continue with the giant slalom races Friday.
