What is DSST?

The DSST Program helps students reach their educational goals faster and at a lower cost. The computer-based DSST tests are nationally-recognized and provide students the opportunity to receive college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom. DSST exams are for all students including:

  • College students
  • Adult learners
  • Active duty, guard & reserve military members
  • Veterans
  • Homeschooled students
  • High school students

Why Take a DSST Credit by Exam Test?

  • DSST exams are approved for college credit
  • Over 30 exams in upper and lower division courses

How much does a DSST exam cost?

The cost of a DSST exam is $118.00, which is covered in two separate payments:

  • $33.00 to the Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ (test administration fee)  paid (includes a $3.00 credit card processing fee).

  • $85.00 to PROMETRIC This fee cannot be prepaid. Pay this fee at the Testing Center on the day of your scheduled test via credit card.

Military Fully Funded Testing Site

The Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ is a fully funded test site.  This means that eligible military and civilian personnel can test for free:

Active Duty and Reserve

  • Army
  • Navy
  • Air Force
  • Marine Corps
  • U.S. Coast Guard
  • Army Reserve
  • Marine Corps Reserve
  • Coast Guard Reserve
  • Army and Air National Guard
  • Civilian employees

Military service members may schedule a proctoring appointment online with UAA for free. If you need to retake a same test, you must schedule as a civilian and pay the fees. The Department of Defense is no longer covering retakes or reimbursing the Testing Center.

When can I schedule a DSST exam?

You may schedule an appointment  at least 24 hours in advance of your test time.

The DSST Public Speaking exam section II requires a private room to make your speech and is offered at 11:30 am, 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm, Monday - Thursday. For questions or additional information about this requirements, contact us: by phone at 907-786-4525 or by email.

What is my DSST School Code?

All testers will need a 4 digit school code in order to take the exam.  UAA School code is 9043.  If you are taking DSST for another school,  before coming into the testing center.
