Minor in Creative Writing

The programs offered by the Department of English prepare students to succeed in an increasingly diverse world by encouraging lifelong learning, critical thinking, and effective writing. The curriculum includes courses from across the fields of English studies: rhetoric, writing, linguistics, and literature.

Students who wish to minor in creative writing must complete the following requirements:

Repeat ·¡±·³Ò³¢Ìý´¡260 or ·¡±·³Ò³¢Ìý´¡385 for three (3) additional credits.3
Complete one of the following courses in literature:3

Students may apply ·¡±·³Ò³¢Ìý´¡490 Topics in English Studies to the appropriate list above, depending on subject coverage with advisor approval.
Students may replace 3 credits of the minor with ·¡±·³Ò³¢Ìý´¡498 Individual Research or ·¡±·³Ò³¢Ìý´¡499 English Honors Thesis if the project is a creative work.
